The long ago is still with me yet.
The torment and the fright,
the shouting and the pain-
the terror in the night.
Take away the images
that never go away.
Make my world a better place,
and bring a brighter day.
Let me forget the pain,
the crying, and the shame.
Let my anguished heart
put aside the blame.
Let me forgive the wrongs
and make my life whole.
Please grant me this small wish--
and heal my bleeding soul.
